Come with the Metro to see the planes.

Come with the Metro to see the planes.

The entire network will be reinforced for the Air Invictus festival on June 19th, 20th, and 21st.

The Porto metropolitan area will once again host a major air festival this year, where planes will perform amazing acrobatics over the river and the sea. Now called Air Invictus, the event will take place on June 19th at Titã beach in Matosinhos, and on June 20th and 21st between the banks of the Douro River, in Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia.

As in previous editions, hundreds of thousands of people are expected to attend this free spectacle. With the convenience and transportation needs of the large audience in mind, Porto Metro has already set up a special service for the entire network, but mainly for the Blue (A) and Yellow (D) lines, which cover the main locations of the event.

Thus, on the very first day of the festival, a Friday, Line A is reinforced from 6:00 PM (the first show starts at 8:45 PM), with the circulation of more double units, thus guaranteeing greater transport capacity. Also on this date, the service on this line is extended until 2:00 AM (from 1:00 AM onwards, the route runs between Senhor de Matosinhos and Trindade stations).

For the following days, Saturday and Sunday, transport capacity on all lines is reinforced, except for the Violeta (E) line. This means that all trips are made with double vehicles between 10:00 AM and 1:00 AM. On Line D, some services begin with double trains at the start of operations, at 6:00 AM.

For safety reasons, on these two days, pedestrian traffic on the upper deck of the Luiz I Bridge will be closed, but the Metro will continue to operate normally on this route. On the other hand, the Jardim do Morro station (from 9 am) and the São Bento station (between 12 pm and 10 pm) will also be closed, although the normal route of the trains will not be interrupted.

If you intend to attend the Air Invictus concert, take the Metro and avoid the traffic and the hassle of endlessly searching for a parking space. Just make sure to pre-load your Andante travel passes to avoid queues near the ticket machines.
