Another record number of validations: 89.78 million in 2024!

In 2024, Metro do Porto once again broke its record for validations, with a total of 89.78 million – 13.3% more than in 2023, when 79.14 million were recorded. Last year, subscription customers represented 33.7% of passengers and accounted for 76.5% of validations (68.71 million versus 21.06 million occasional ticket validations).

The common trunk line (between Senhora da Hora and Estádio do Dragão) accounted for half of the validations, but all lines improved their performance. In this regard, the Yellow Line (D) (which saw its connection extended to Vila d'Este at the end of June, in a project that included three new stations) saw the highest growth: 24 million validations (17% more compared to 2023). This was followed by the Red Line (B), with over 4 million validations.

In terms of validations by month, it can be said that, overall, demand was relatively homogeneous, with October being the best time of year.

Also in terms of the number of kilometers traveled by Metro vehicles, it is worth noting a growth of 9.8% compared to the previous year, with 9.18 million kilometers recorded in total.
